Postcards.

I have been collecting them for about 10 years. It’s not just that they have a nostalgic feel…that would be obvious…but I think there is something so beautiful and thoughtful about a handwritten love note or Christmas wish. An act that seems to have been long forgotten. Each card has texture and weight….like the words written on them give them substance and being. Each time I walk by my collection, it’s a little reminder to slow down, to not take the little things for granted…..and maybe instead of texting the kids or my sweetheart, actually take a moment to write my sentiments. So, the next time you are cruising through your favorite antique store and you come across a girl sitting on the floor perusing through the post cards, it just might be me =)

There is nothing sweeter than moments like this.

Hope you all have a lovely Valentines day….and get to spend it with the ones you love!

I had the pleasure of teaming up with my photographer friend Gigi to capture this darling newborn today. Isn’t she a doll?

How could I resist this light?

{both images were processed using actions from my Vinatge Tea Tones}
Over the years, I have found that I am drawn to odd things….like buttons. Old ball jars filled with worn buttons line a shelf in my favorite shabby china cabinet. Addy loves buttons too….and I thought it would be a fun project for her to sort them by shape, texture, size & color….it keeps her nice and busy which is a good thing. My husband on the other hand says that I am just “hoarding” which clearly is not true. So, to prove him wrong about my collecting habits, antique obsession, whatever….I have decided to show him that all these things really do have a purpose by blogging about a favorite thing of mine at least once a week. It will also give me a chance to use my camera for more personal projects, helping me to find more purpose in my work….which was inspired by several friends and fellow photographers, Dana Fontaine of Image Tree Photography, Rachel Clare of Rachael Clare Photography and Jen Roberts of Green Apple Images. They are amazing photographers who are always up to something cool on their blogs. You should check them out! So here is my first favorite thing….buttons for valentines : )

Both of these images were processed using a combination of some of the tones in my Tea Tones actions set, Iced Strawberry and Lemon Tea Cookie.
